Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Benkline,
the 1911 arrival manifest (to Philadelphia, ship Ancona) shows a boy (Antonio Croce) of age 14 joining his father Bartolomeo Croce.....
travelling with his mother Leone Teresina....
We think this Antonio is not your grandfather.... maybe he was a cousin...
That's why we think that the right arrival manifest is the one of 1914... another Antonio Croce leaving in Italy his mother Anna(first name) Domenica (middle name)

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Do you think this 1930 census is correct for your grandfather and his family?

If it's so, Antonio declared 1915 as year of arrival in the U.S.

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
The reason I am going off the 1911 arrival with the SS Ancona is because my grandfather told me he was meeting Bartholomeo Croce, who was already in America, who would be his uncle, and my grandfather told me that his grandfather is Danato and that his grandmother is Anna Croce (Ranalli).
Basically thats all I had to go off of.

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Yes Ben, It'ok but you now have documents stating another thing.... maybe the family memories were wrong....
Do you know if Bartolomeo Croce had a son named Antonio? Tha arrival manifest is very clear...
If you read the arrival manifest you can see well what we are saying...

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Ok.. I think I found an important clue....
On the 1911 arrival manifest (Ship Ancona to Philadelphia) we can see:
line 11: Croce Endido?? age 18, from Frigenti leaving in Italy his sister Concettina (annotation on his line is: with mother 12)
line 12: Leone Teresina, age 52 from Frigento, leaving in Italy her daughter Concettina
line 13: son Croce Antonio, age 14,
line 14: daughter Catalda [Croce], age 16
line 15: son Alfonso [Croce], age 11
in the second page of this manifest Leone Teresina declared to join his brother in law Croce Bartolomeo ... the child declared to join their uncle Bartolomeo Croce.....
So, if this Antonio is your grandfather it seems his mother is Teresina Leone and Bartolomeo croce his uncle.... Do you know if the other child were your grandfather's siblings?

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
You mean Vincenzo and Domencio?
Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
No, I mean the child on the 1911 arrival manifest....
If that is the right Antonio Croce it seems his siblings were Catalda, Alfonso and Endido??... and the mother Teresina Leone...
How do you explain this?

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Explain? Am I being interrogated?
I didn't look into the manifest enough to realize their were siblings there or not - to be frankly honest, I'm pretty new to all of this genealogy stuff and just started doing all of this to track the lineage for my; now 14 months; child. So I'm not too good at reading these manifests and figuring out all of the information on them - mainly the reason why I came here.
I was basing everything off the information my grandfather gave me that his grandfather is Danato and his grandmother is Anna and that his father came to America to find Bartolomeo. Thats all I had to go off of, and doing my search, this SS Ancona and what I could gather from the manifest seemed to be the best bet.

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Ha, Laura, I was just joking (thus the winky face). Just a joke, no harm done, sorry to make you feel bad.
Is there a picture/link to the 1930 Census? If so and you posted it, I'm sorry I must overlooked it.

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Ok, I think we are missing something here.
If you could answer the following questions, maybe we can understand better!!
Grandfather is Antonio Croce, birth 1897.
His mother's name is ?
His father's name is?
Antonio's brothers and sisters are?

Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
That census would be right, because it has listed Carmella as his wife, which would be my great-grandmother and Rudolph - son; which is my grandfather.
Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
Unless I'm just dull/dim, this census doesn't show who Antonio Croce's parents are.
Re: Croce - Looking up Croce Relatives
So I suppose its greatly looking like my great-grandfather Antonio didn't come over on the SS Ancona (12.9.11).
But I'm still having trouble tracing anything about him, who his parents were, etc.
