First to you and Laura, super work on locating census and manifest information.

On the partial information I read on newspaperarchive on the 1976 Syracuse obituary for Salvatore Vavonese, it stated he had been a residence of Syracuse for 56 years. If correct, the family would have moved to Syracuse 1920/1921 after the 1920 census. But, darned if I can find the family there on the 1930 census records. Both Salvatore and Nunzia's obituaries as well as some marriage announcements stated they lived at 637 Catherine Street. There also was an article from 1973 about Salvatore and Nunzia's 60th wedding anniversary, the year before Nunzia passed away. The homestead on Catherine Street may have been torn down since I also located a real estate listing for that address which shows a duplex built in 2000.

I am fairly sure the Angelo Vavonese (son of Salvatore) was my gradnfather and died about 1989. He was married to Rose Casella (died 2006) and had five daughters:

Virgina Valcore - married with 5 sons 1 daughter
Mary Peleychaty age 63 - my mother - married with 3 sons
Gloria Wimer - Widowed 1 daughter
Judy Vavonese - 1 daughter
Catherine Vavonese - no children

As far as I know, my grandparents lived in a suburb of Bullfalo, NY North Tonawanda and moved to East Rochester (suburb of Rochester, NY)

I would be interested to know more about my relatives from Sicily. I presently reside in Rochester, NY
