Vincenzo Virzi from Sicily
Vincenzo Virzi from Sicily
My Grandfather was born January 19, 1896 from Palermo, Sicily married Anna Petriccione born June 26, 1895 from Portici (near Naples).
My dad was born in California and that is where my Grandfather died I believe. I am trying to find out any info I can on this. I am especially trying to figure out when my Grandfather would have been naturalized?
The other discussions on Virzi are not about this family line. Thanks so much!

Re: Vincenzo Virzi from Sicily
Hi kvirzi and welcome to the forum.
I found this on Footnote and it is the petition for naturalization for your grandmother Anna. If you'll notice, they have her birthday (the one you supplied) x'ed out and replaced with a different date but you can still read the actual birthdate under the x's. Lists your grandfather as spouse and says she is naturalizing through him (he was a naturalized citizen already).
I'm checking Footnote to see what else I can find on her and on your grandfather. Let me know if this is of any help or if you already have this information.

Re: Vincenzo Virzi from Sicily
Still searching for census records and/or related information on Vincenzo and Anna but I'm coming up empty right now. I'll keep looking.
If any other members can jump in and check for census info or draft registrations that would be great.
Thanks
Elizabeth

Thank you wldsprt and laura !!!
Re: Vincenzo Virzi from Sicily
WOW! Thank you so much. This is amazing. You totally found my grandparents, that is my Grandmother's maiden name and the name's of my uncles and aunts. It is interesting to see the census since my Father was yet to be born, he was the last one born.
It looks like my Grandmother (Anna) was naturalized in 1938, 3 years after the birth of my Father, but to gain citizenship my Father would have to have been before my Grandfather was naturalized and that looks very unlikely.
Does anyone know if my information on this is correct, and if there would be any other way to explore this?
Thanks again so much, this is really amazing, I have looked casually for years and you have found so many things I have never seen before!

on this document (Naturalization of Anna Virzi) you'll find the exact dates for her husband:
he was naturalized at Jersey City NJ on 6/7/23
this matches with:
perhaps you might ask for his record here:Pink67" wrote:World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
