Angela Romano

Post by Romano1970 »

Hello, I have been looking through some of the notices and paperwork that I have on my family and I have found that one of my Grandfathers ( lorenzo Romano) Sisters, Angela Romano moved to Australia. I am not sure exactly of the time frame however I would think it would be somewhere between 1915 and 1930.

Where would I be able to find this information. Or, would anyone have this information?

She was from Piazza Armerina Sicilia.

Thanks for the help.

Were there specific ports back then, that would be different now?

I do know that my cousins own a wine vinyard in Australia. I was very small when I met my Fathers cousins however I do remember them talking about the vinyards.

Hello all, it has been a while. I was finally found some information that may relate to my Great Aunt Angela ROMANO. There were a few stories and even fewer documents that may have her traveling / moving to Melbourne Australia. There are also linked names of INSABELLA in Melbourne as well.
She supposedly moved to Australia after the death of her husband in Piazza Armerina Sicilia. I would have to say between the time of 1915 to 1930.

Re: Angela Romano / Question

Post by Romano1970 »

Hello All, I have a question. I have been in touch with my Great Aunts, grandchild in Melbourne Australia. Frank Insabella. It has really been wonderful to find him. On facebook of all places. We were discussing the Marriage and birth certificates I received from Sicily. However all of the ones I have did not match up to his Grandmother (The woman for which this post is here) .
There were a few clues. He advised when my Grandfather came to America ( ROMANO, Lorenzo) in 1913 his Grand Mother was 12. The only Certificate I have that could match this is for Giuseppa Romano, April 9, 1902 in Piazza Armerina. Is there any possibility at all that Giuseppa would be referenced as Angela?? There is no middle name listed on the Certificate either. Possibly Piazza Armerina did not send all the documents??

Might this be your Great Aunt, daughter of Filippo and Filippa Ristagno?

or this one, who was the daughter of Giuseppe and Filippa Gagliano

Hi Pippo, thank you.
I do believe that the first one is correct.

Odd that they did not provide this one to me when I requested from Piazza Armerina, maybe it was overlooked somehow. Were these records from the same town? I cannot translate on my own.

A side note on the record states that Angela Romano married Giuseppe Denaro on 11 Sept 1916
