Look at these items from the web:

Ann,

I just want add some records... hope that you'll be able to connect all these persons...
I noticed from the Rainero's death's articles that his sister was Mrs. Appleton.
I did a little search and in fact found out that:

New York City Marriages, 1600s-1800s
about Isotta Rebecchini
Name: Isotta Rebecchini
Spouse Name: Appleton Oaksmith
Marriage Date: 27 Sep 1855
Marriage Place: New York City, New York, New York

Marriage ID: 2220316040
Other Comments: On microfilm at Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Source: The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record (quarterly), 1932, selected extracts
Publisher: New York Genealogical and Biographical Society
Publication Place: New York, NY

Do you know who was Isotta?

Read this: :!:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appleton_Oaksmith

On 1869 this passport was issuied to Isotta ...

U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1925
about Isotta Oaksmith
Name: Isotta Oaksmith
Birth Date: 25 Aug
Birth Place: Italy
Age: 34
Passport Issue Date: 15 Oct 1869
Passport Includes a Photo: N
Source: Passport Applications, 1795-1905 (M1372)

If you don't have an Ancestry.com subscription I can post the image for you...

I believe you have enough news who need to be studied a lot!

Thank you very much! I do in fact have an Ancestry subscription. It is funny because i have seen these names come across my desk and i just dismissed them because i couldn't connect them in any way. I can't wait to spend some time and try to figure this all out.

Ann,
maybe it's only a coincidence but I noticed that Appleton Oaksmith was born in Portland - Maine (lot of news on the web on him and his family!) and from the 1900 census I noticed that also Minia's husband, Joseph was a seaman and born in Maine... :!:
Minia's son Fred was born in Boston but I have no record of his birth as of yet.
:D Hi Ann,

I'm sure you know, but I read on Ancestry.com that on 1917 he requested a passport...

U.S. Passport Applications, 1795-1925
about Frederick John Pierce
Name: Frederick John Pierce
Birth Date: 3 Oct 1870
Birth Place: Boston, Mass
RESIDENCE: Jersey City, NJ
Passport Issue Date: 3 Aug 1917
Father Name: Henry Pierce
Father's Birth Location: Rockland, ME
Passport Includes a Photo: Y
Source: Passport Applications, January 2, 1906 - March 31, 1925 (M1490)

Well, he wasn't able to present his birth certificate because it seems that the Boston Department of Health for two times answered they didn't have it... so Frederick's brother Joseph had to present a declaration in which he stated the birth of his brother on October 3, 1870 on Green street, Boston MA:

Edit to add...

Ann,
you wrote in your first message that possible Minia's father played in Piazza San Pietro, in Italy... Have you read the part of the Article of Raniero's death where the Vatican is mentioned?

He was a native of Ancona,
Italy, and not a Watichian as previously published.
His father, Serafino Rebecchini, was a distinguished
organist and teacher of vocal music, and
his uncles on his mother's side were noted
as artists and comet players. The deceased
inherited the talents of both his parents

Thanks so much! I was not aware of the document that you just sent and the info about Joseph and his declaration of Frederick. That is really great!I do have however, a passport application for Frederick John stating the same info about his father being born in Maine etc... it is a date of July 20,1917. He was traveling to Canada on Business.

Thanks again!

Ann

By the way.. i was reading all the info on Serafino Rebecchinni and Raniero's death! Fascinating!! I love it!!

You're welcome Ann,
The two pages I added before (Fred's 1917 passport) are part of the passport you're talking about... you have to check on Ancestry.com the next pages after the first one you're referring to.
I also added a "clue" in my last message...
Really this is a fascinating history! :D

Laura,

I just read your clue...... I feel really silly, but not being aware of all of the places in Italy and what the places mean I'm not getting the clue right away. Can you help me? Does my story match up to the clue of his father playing the organ in St. Peter's square? Thanks for the info about Freds passport. I would have never read the next page if it weren't for you!!

Thanks!

I am really starting to believe that Raniero is Minia's brother. Raniero died in 1878 and her son Joseph was born in 1880. He probably was named after his father joseph and her deceased brother. :!:

Oh, Ann...
I apologize, I'm italian so sometimes I forgot that you and other people on the forum aren't!

St. Peter Square.... I'm sure this is a way to say he played in the Vatican State or better, in the St. Peter Basilica:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Peter%27s_Basilica

so when I read that Raniero was wrongly considered by the newspaper as Vatichian I thought that maybe this fact need to be considered better referring to your clue of Minia's father playing there.......

Is the area where Raniero is from, anywhere near the Vatican? Could his father still play there without living there? I could look at a map ... but since you are there......I thougth I would ask.

No, it isn't..
Ancona is 190 miles far from Rome, It is in the Marche region, is the Main city of the region, located on the coast, on the Adriatic sea.
Rome is located on the coast but on the Mediterranean sea.
Try http://maps.google.it/

But, maybe, as he was a very valuable organist and piano players and I believe also composer of Piano's music, it's possible he was so famous to play in the Vatican State too...

I want to pointed you out some other things:

have you read the two items I found about Serafino Rebecchini?

http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/ampage?co ... linkText=0

Image

Il vota = The vow / by Serafino Rebecchini.

Rebecchini, Serafino.

CREATED/PUBLISHED
Portland, ME: J. S. Paine, 1855.

NOTES
In bound volumes: Copyright Deposits 1820-1860

Oh, my love with rapture fleeting / by S. Rebecchini.

Rebecchini, S..

CREATED/PUBLISHED
Boston: White, Smith & Perry, 1870
.

So it seems in 1855 Serafino (possible Minia's father?) was in Maine and in 1870 was in Massachusetts.... not only coincidences i believe!
