Need help finding Great Grandfather Francesco Di Christina

Post by LuSiculu »

Hello, I've tried just about everything to find my great grandfather, I was wondering if anyone would have anyone suggestions. He was (according to his WWII draft card) born in Bagheria Sicily May 12 1877. I've contacted Bagheria and everything but no one responds. I was just there last year and found his wife that he married in the states, but at the time I didn't know he was from that town as well...Anybody have any ideas besides actually going back to the town? lol. I would be greatful for any type of help.

Hi and welcome to the forum. :D

The name is probably spelled Di Cristina. Can you give us a little more info about when Francesco came the the US, his wife's name, names of children, where they settled? These facts will help us help you track hime down.

Hello, and thank you very much. Well, when he same to the US he settled on Broome st in New York City. He married Rosa Di Salvo and had 8 children. I can't find any records of him going through Ellis Island, so I don't know when he came. According to ancestry.com census reports, one says he came in 1900, and another says 1903. I cant find any naturalization records or marriage records either. What Im really trying to find is his birth record so I can learn the names of his parents, and his mothers maiden name. If they followed the general naming tradition then I am guessing his parents names are Tomaso and Paulina because that was the names of the first son and first daughter. But I just don't know for sure.

Wow, thank you very much. Yes, I sent the birth request to that office in Bagheria, but it wasn't in Italian except for the end where I stated in italian that I will rewrite this e-mail if English is not understood. Guess I'll try again in all Italian. Thanks for the other information, I wasn't able to find him in the 1910 census until now, only 1920 & 30... and the marriage record I guess I'll have to go into New York to make sure that's the right one, very well could be, just with a very different spelling. And I'll definetly check out Filippo. Thanks so much!!
