For those who need an IRC from the P.O.

This info sheet just went out to retail supervisors at the P.O. about international reply coupons. If you are in need of an IRC and your P.O. tells you they don't know what they are, they don't have any or they try to sell you an expired IRC, print this and take it with you to help with the ordering process.

Here is the messaging that went out today from the stamp fulfillment office to retail supervisors in the entire district

Hi Retail Supervisors:

There have been many questions swirling around today about International Reply Coupons.

This is what everyone needs to know:

Sale price: $2.10, exchange value $ .98 (International postage, 1 oz rate).

All versions of the IRC with expiration dates of Dec 31, 2009 or earlier are obsolete. They cannot be sold, or redeemed, or exchanged.

The only International Reply Coupon that can be sold or redeemed now is the current version with a $2.10 value imprinted on the left side of the face of the IRC. The expiration date is Dec 31, 2013.

Nothing else is okay to use in any way.

If customers present the older, obsolete versions at the retail counter, they cannot be accepted. The customer should redeem them at home-in the foreign country that sold them.

Domestic (US Origin) IRCs with an expiration of Dec 31 2009 or earlier cannot be exchanged either.

What this all boils down to is this:

Only the current version may be sold, redeemed, or exchanged at the retail window.

Offices should order Item 330800 International Reply Coupons if customers typically request them at your retail window. Please order in multiples of 5.

Also, older IRC's in your inventory must be prepared for redemption to the Stamp Distribution Office. I will accept them through February 19th only.
