Charles Festorazzi

Post by annlouisajane » 15 Mar 2010, 16:53

Is there anyone who can give me any information about Charles Festorazzi who came to England from Italy . He settled in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and married a local girl Charlotte Langridge on 26 Dec 1831.
Charles died in Tunbridge Wells on 12 Dec 1886. (Charlotte died 13 Apr 1874)

They had nine children that I have found.

I know the Festorazzis come from around the Como area. Is there any way I can find out :-

1) Exactly when he arrived in England.

2) Did he come as a adult, or as a child with his parents?

3) Why he came to England.

4) Why, in all the paperwork I have found for him in England, he is always called Charles and not Carlo. i.e Marriage, death and various census.

5) Charles is an English name, did he have an Italian father and an English mother?

6) Is Festorazzi the name of a trade. i.e Butcher, baker?

Any help you can give will be so welcome. I cannot speak a word of Italian.
