Raglione Origin

Post by mechartrand »

Hi,

I am working on my fiance's family tree and I have very little information on his ancestors.

We live in Québec and most of his family lives in Québec for the past 3 generations.

His family name is Raglione. His grand father Nelson (Nunzio) Raglione was married to Marcelle Manetta.

Nelson Raglione had 2 brothers: Jimmy and Hector.

Nelson's father is Rocco Raglione. I do not know the name of his wife.

I cannot find any other information on the Raglione surname. I am not able to find the origin, where they are from in Italy or when they came to Quebec.

If anyone as any kind of information, I would really happy to hear about it!

Thanks!

Hi Biff,

Thank you for the fast reply!

I found this record on Ancestry.ca, but I was not sure it is the right Rocco because of the date. Most of my great grand parents were born in 1905 or so. I had totally for got about it!

That is quite interesting to know that Vincenzo becomes James... which could be the Jimmy I have in my record. I did not know that!

The more I look at it, the more it seems to make sense. Nelson was probably the youngest brother and could not appear as a witness.

Also I doubt that there was too many Rocco Raglione in Montreal with 2 sons corresponding to my record at the same time!!!

Thank you so much!!

Hi again!

Oh my! You are much better than I am at this.
This is amazing!

Is it so difficult to read on top of it. :)

Thank you so much!

It actually fit with the story I was told.
My boyfriend was not sure at all who immigrated but he thought it was Rocco.

I am so happy!

Thank you!

I believe this is Rocco's son Guido's death or burial record in French. Left side bottom record.

Hi again,

The records are accurate. :)

I just came back for Hawthorn-Dale Cemetery.
We found Rocco and Antonia (Antoinetta) Raglione's grave.

The man at the funeral home was really helpful and gave me a photocopy of their tomb records.

Along with them was also Hector's son Mario Philip who dies when he was only 1 month old.

I learned that Antonia died when she was 62 years old (1936) from a stroke.

That was a really nice experience.

Thank you for your help!

Hi!

For the last year, I have been working on my family tree. I have made some great discoveries because of the leads that were given to me on this forum.

Although, now I am blocked because I have to continue the research in Italy.
I am not too sure how to go about that.

I am still working on that same Raglione branch. I found a lot of descendents but no more ancestors.

I am looking for information on Vincenzo and Gemma Raglione in San Benedetto Dei Marsi, Aquila, Italia. At least, Rocco was from San Benedetto Dei Marsi when he left Italy.

Vincenzo Raglione (before 1860 IT)
Gemma (before 1860 IT)
.
.
.
...............Rocco Raglione (1873 IT - 1940 CA)
...............Antonia Polidoro (1873 IT - 1935 CA)
.......................brother: Eduardo Polidoro (IT)
.
.
.
................................Ida Irida (Rita) Raglione (1897 IT - 1960 CA)
................................Guido Raglione (1911 IT - 1940 CA)
................................Ettore (Hector) Raglione (1913 CA - 1970 CA)
................................Vincenzo (James) Raglione (1914 CA - 1993 CA)
................................Nunzio (Nelson) Raglione (1916 CA - 1995 CA)

I have been stucked there for a while now and I don't know what to do next.
If you have any suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm very interested in this Anna Polidoro. My great-grandfather, Edoardo Cenerizio, was a foundling born Feb 1877 in Popoli, Pescara and taken in by one Nunzio Polidoro and Wife Erminia of Popoli. Later Edoardo married in Popoli and then moved to San Benedetto dei Marsi, started a family and then moved to Boston, wife and 2 children following in 1919. If you know anything about Nunzio Polidoro from Popoli and his foundling child Edoardo Cenerizio, please contact me.
Thank You!
