I am searching for information on my great-grandfather Damiano Genetti and his ancestors. He was born in 1857 in Castelfondo, Trentino and immigrated with his brother Raffaele Genetti to the US in 1878. Any background to their parents, etc. would be helpful.

Wow - I'm really confused. Yes my great-grand mother was Oliva Zambotti, but I have a different birthday and death for Damiano: birth Oct. 27 1857, death - 1944. The children you have listed are somewhat the same, but Damiano and Raffaele came to the US in 1878 and I thought all of their children were born in the US. Damiano's oldest son, Leone, was my grandfather. Here is a family site created by a decendent of Raffaele's that offers the information I have on my family: http://genettifamily.com. I also have my great-grandmother's obituary (see below) that doesn't seem to correspond with your information, as it says that Damiano and Oliva were married in the US and that Damiano was in Europe at the time of her death in 1938. Genetti, Mrs. Damiano 1861-1938
Mrs. Damiano Genetti, aged 77 years, a highly respected resident of Hazleton for many years, died at her home, 121 South Fulton court, at 9:15 o'clock this morning after two weeks' illness. She was the wife of the founder of the firm of D. Genetti's Sons Inc., and the mother of the four Genetti brothers who comprise the firm which operates a large chain of food markets here and in nearby towns. Mrs. Genetti's maiden name was Miss Olivia Zambotti. She was born in the Austrian Tyrol and came to America 53 years ago, locating in Lattimer. That same year she became the bride of Mr. Genetti, the ceremony being performed by the Rt. Rev. Bishop M.J. Hoban, of the Diocese of Scranton at Scranton. Thirty-two years ago the family located in Hazleton. Mrs. Genetti was a member of St. Gabriel's R.C. church. She is survived by her husband, who is in Europe, and the following children: Leon Genetti, August H. Genetti, Albert V. Genetti, Stanley V. Genetti, all of Hazleton; Mrs. V. Bott and Mrs. Peter Zambotti of Weston; Mrs. Henry Branz of Freeland; Miss Esther Genetti and Mrs. James McNelis, of Hazleton. Twenty-seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ralph Genetti of Weston, also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 am with solemn high mass of requiem at 9:30 am in St. Gabriel's church. Interment will be made in the parish cemetery. The Genetti markets will be operated today, tomorrow and Saturday but will be closed Monday until noon.

Olivia Genetti nee Zambotti arrived at Ellis Island on board the S.S. Hudson on the 3rd of December 1906 with 5 of her children who are listed as being born in Italy
Going to join husband and father Damiano Genetti in Hazelton PA
It also states that Olivia was previously in the states for 8 months in 1887

This opens up a lot more questions! Thank you so much for your diligence in finding this informaiton. I'll need to do more digging to make sence of it. I do remember my father telling me that my family came to Pennsylvania then went back to the Tyrol before returning to finally settle in the US. Perhaps this explains some of it.
