How to find right church in Marsala?

Post by Jim2814 »

My Grandfather was born in Marsala, Sicily. Marsala is a large city with many churches. How can I find his church or a list of churches in Marsala?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

chiese cattoliche

The above is a link for the Italian yellow pages. If you type in chiese cattoliche and then Marsala below that, you will get a list of churches there.

I had the same problem years ago helping a cousin do research from Benevento. We wrote letters to 13 parishes there since we did not know which was the correct one and one parish priest did reply and, after sending him a donation, did send my cousin photocopies of the records for which he was searching.

There are form letters at the website below to help you, if you do not know how to write in Italian.

If your grandfather was born back in the 1800, on the real copy of his birth record, there is written where he was baptized, so I suggest you to contact Marsala civil record office.
I hope it helps
bye Riccardo
