Hi, another new person trying to track down Italian roots (on my wife's side). Here is my progress so far: wife's mother (Irene Florence Vartuli); Irene's father [Michael Vincent Vartuli: 16 Dec 1921 Burlington, VT - 22 Jun 2000 Hampton, VA; married Grace Agnes Hamilton 14 Feb 1942 in Winooski, VT]; Michael Vincent's father [Francis Cimento Vartuli: 30Nov 1897 in Italy - 1930 somewhere; married Pauline St. Germain 14 Jul 1918 in Colchester, VT; married Irene Marie Hamlin 28 Feb 1923 in Winooski, VT. He has a World War I draft card dated 12 Sep 1918 with residence at 86 Hickok, Winooski, VT; and stating that Francis Cimento was naturalized a U.S. citizen from his father's naturalization when Francis Cimento was a minor. He has children Michael Vincent (16 Dec 1921-22 Jun 2000), Jennie (8 Oct 1922 - 9 Oct 1990), Dominic (10 Jan 1926 - Mar 1987), and Francis (11 May 1928 - 4 Dec 2007) ].
Francis Cimento Vartuli is where I am stuck. There was a Francesco Vartuli, 8 years old, from Arena, Italy on the Ship Citta di Torino that arrived at Ellis Island, NY on 24 Sep 1905 from Napoli, Italy. The age of 8 would be consistent with the birth date.
Also I have declaration #639 and declaration page 211 from Declaration of Intent for Naturalization: New York County, 1907-1924. These numbers are for a Francesco Vartuli. His WWI draft card listed him as naturalized American through his father, so maybe it is a different person. I don't know what to do with these numbers. Do I look this up at a family history center or order this from NY?
Thank you.
