Post by mystictyger18 » 31 Jul 2004, 18:56

my amigos last name is Pape...he thinks it was misspelled when his grandfather came to the US though so that it was originally 'Pepe'...does anyone know where the origin of that name would be or what it means?

In Italy are Papa(meaning=father but called with feeling) surname, and Pepe surname..
Pepe surname coming from or diminutive first name Giuseppe/Peppe=Pepe, or from french name Pepin, meaning also Joseph diminutive..suanj
