Need a bit of help reading a profession

Post by willperone »

Can anyone read the profession from this death record? It looks like ex cantoniere? What is that?

Thank you very much for any help,
- Will Perone (Pirone? heheh)

Thanks! Does the 'ex' infront of it mean anything?

He died at 85 and I don't believe he was working at this age. Ex-cantoniere means that he was a roadman when he worked. Ex=previously.

Oh ok, haven't seen the 'ex' infront of it in other death records I've seen so I didn't know if it was the obvious thing :)
