Newbie Help

Post by Bonedoc » 15 Feb 2011, 01:14

Excuse my ignorance. I am new to ancestor research. I have completed my family tree up to the point where my relatives came to this country. My question is what is the best way to search for italian records? I have read that sending a letter to the commune in Italy is a good idea. How would I go about doing this. Basically where to start. Any other good ideas would be appreciated. Again my apologies if this question has been posed before. Thanks.
