pont canavese is in the province of Torino and the postale# is 10085 and Canischio is 10080 and is also in the province of Torino. Since you know the towns, go to www.paginebianche.it and put in the names in the first line and the town names in the third line and click cerca and you will get a listing of all persons in that town with those last names.

[ This message was edited by: Edmondo on 28-08-2002 19:51 ]

Hi Brandlelynn.

As peter told you, both the villages you mentioned are located in the province of Torino, more exactly in an area called Canavese.
PONT CANAVESE counts nowadays about 3.000 abitants (but they could be 4-5.000 100 years ago when your ancestors left it). Try this URL: http://www.comune.pontcanavese.to.it It\'s the City Hall\'s official website: unfortunately it\'s all written in Italian, but in the \"Informazioni\" section you may find some picture of the town, and in the section \"Il Comune\" - \"Uffici Comunali\" - \"Demografici\" you may find an e-mail address to write directly to the officer in charge of vital records.
CANISCHIO is a smaller village (a few hundreds residents, I guess) and to my knowledge il still hasn\'t a dedicated website (But it has a very nice medieval church, with precious paintings on the walls). I also found this e-mail address for the city-hall: comunecanischio@libero.it

To locate these two places on a map type this Url http://www.tamtamcanavese.it/cartina/cartina-no.asp

Another interesting tools for maps is available at http://www.discoveritalia.com

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need something else.

Ciao, Maurizio

Caro figlio bello Maurizio. Forse ci vedremo in Ottobre o Novembre. Peter

Hi Brandle,
my pleasure to help you.

Hey Peter, how are you?
I perfectly know (and respect) your conviction that most of the people who post in this and other genealogical websites are here only to try to capitalize on your experience and knowledge in this particular subject.
As for me, I simply don\'t care at all. So, don\'t worry, there\'s absolutely no problem (Also because, in this particular case, I didn\'t have to do any research, since this two villages are less than 10 miles far from my home).
Stai in gamba e buon viaggio in Italia, papà.
Dear B. It would be also helpful if you bring a magnifying glass with you as the lettering is sometimes diffiult to read but the suggestion offered by JOEC is indeed helpful to you or anyone else in search of their genealogical objectives. Peter
