Family ancestry
Re: Family ancestry
Thank you to all who have replied so far to help me get started with this.
I have a lot of work ahead of me and appreciate your input as to which resources are out there for me to use.
Are there different sites such as this one for different nationalities?
I am half Polish from my Father's side and do have my Grandmother's name, birthdate, & possible year of immigration.

Re: Family ancestry
I have been trying to find the Ellis Island records for my Italian grandparents & also my Polish grandparents.
Very interesting that no records show up even though I know they each entered the USA through there. Any idea why that is? I logged on as a member for the Ellis Island records.
My Polish grandparents names are:
Walenty (William) Luszcz - original spelling of surname - later, or at the time changed to Luscz. Not sure of arrival date. DOB 1889, died 1935
Sophia Zajàc - maiden name - came from Stykulv (sp?) Poland 1908 or 1909. DOB 1895 , died 1981 Yonkers, N.Y.
My Italian grandparents being Clemente & Rose Berardo from Trivento, Italy.

Re: Family ancestry
Laura,
Yes, the above census records are of my family, with Mike - age 6 at the time, being my father, who will be 88 next month! Thank you so much!!
I had totally forgotten that they, whomever "they" were had changed the spelling of our last name to Lust! Wow!! So great!
Advice on which research tools to use & or sign up for. Can I truly find everything I need through Ancestry.com?

If you're talking about polish records, no...Can I truly find everything I need through Ancestry.com?
There are just a few databases.
http://www.ancestry.com/search/locality ... 381&p=5183
regarding the town of origin of your ancestors it should be Stykow:

I'm not an expert on polish records, this is another good link for these kind of researches:
http://genealogy.about.com/od/poland/Po ... istory.htm
there's just one free database on the site Familysearch:

Re: Family ancestry - Berardo
Hi:
My name is Lorri Berardo. My grandfather was Nicholas Berardo (brother of Clemente) from Yonkers, Ny. My father was Patsy (Pasquale) Berardo son of Nicholas & Angelina LaGuardia Berardo. My father died was I was 6 so I really don't have too much info. I really appreciate the 50th anniversary pic that was posted as well as the obit. If someone has more info to share I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!,,,,

Re: Family ancestry
My name is Lynn Angela(Berardo) Warner. My father, Pasquale Berardo, passed away when I was three years old in 1966 and I have very little information about this side of my family. My father's parents were
Nicolas Berardo and Angelina LaGuardia Berardo. I do believe that Clemente DiGiovanni Berardo and Nicolas were brothers... which means we are related!
I would like any information but would love to begin with finding out the names of my great-grandparents... parents of Nicolas and Angelina.
This research is all so new to me. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you! Lynn

Re: Family ancestry
Wow! It's been a while since I've been on here!
Too bad how life has a habit of getting in the way sometimes :/
I am interested in gathering what is needed to apply for my EU Passport.
Can someone direct me to a site that is solid & forthright with exactly what I need to order etc.
I've looked at GetEUPassport online - anyone know about them?

Re: Family ancestry
Since the other half of your family is Polish perhaps when you are so inclined you might want to conduct research at http://www.findthebest.com Peter

Re: Family ancestry
Peter, Thank you but in looking at this site & choosing birth, marriage & death records, the only locations offered are in the USA.
