religious orders

Post by dmt1955 » 18 May 2012, 20:33

how easy / successful can searches be when trying to locate a family member who joined a religious order? is it challenging to get info for those who went into a reglious life?

my great aunt was sent to a convent abt. age 3 or 4, joined the order, but eventually left religious life.

i don't know any details, i am assuming that the convent she was sent to was near where she was born. however, i do not know for certain.

does anyone have any thoughts about how to begin this research on those in religious orders?

my great aun'ts name is Angela (or Angelina)Purcaro, born circa 1920, Ariano di Puglia. Died circa 1974, Naples.

Researching: Purcaro, Raimo, Rizzo, Scaglione, Troisi, Masucci
Locations: Ariano (di Puglia) Irpino, Volturrara Irpina, Altavilla Irpina
