Post by ddidio47 »

I am trying to discover my family roots. My family came from the province of Naples. Surname DiDio. His first name (grandfather) Pasquale. Came to NY aboard the Rex and settled in Brooklyn NY in the 1920's.

The manifest may give an town of birth...

Edited to add:
Found manifest in January, 1921 for Pasquale DiDio, going to Brooklyn. His last place of residence was FERRANDINA, Matera, Basilicata... :-)

Also found a manifest for Nicola/Nicholas (in the above census). He arrived in 1921 (August 12 on the SS Patria) as well, at age 6 months, along with mother Caterina Lo Caso, and sister, Loretta DiDio. Caterina leaves her mother, Rosa LaSalata in FERRANDINA. They are joining Caterina's husband, Pasquale DiDio at 25 Osborn St., Brooklyn, NY
Also traveling with them is Caterina's sister Teresa Lo Caso.

For the above family...Pasquale's Naturalization Petition. Place of birth - FERRANDINA

ALSO... a WWII Draft REgistration Card...

If these are your ancestors... you may want to go to your nearest Family History Center to rent and view the microfilms of civil registrations for FERRANDINA - 1809-1929. You may find Pasquale's birth record, marriage record, possiby siblings, etc.
