Just a follow up. This just gets better and better. From your response about transposing the name I have come up with an article in the Kokomo Tribune about Tony Bruno, 1927. Murder, beer running, etc. Those could be the "family secrets" we heard mentioned. Thanks! Also, found a possible link to a related family tree on ancestor.com.

Hi,
I believe that Toni BRUNO killed was the father of Antonio BRUNO; so seeming to me by Kokomo directory; Antonio Bruno was born in Siculiana (Agrigento)so I believe, because the nearest relative mentioned at this time was resident in Siculiana :

I think that you found the WW1 card of the Father Anthony Bruno. The "Uncle Bruno" the Vincenzo's listed as the relative in Kokomo. Anthony (tony) had 2 sons. Carl and Joseph.
Joseph was the one listed in the newpaper article being found shot in the field. Carl married and I think lived in Kokomo. Frances was his mother who lived with him.

Suanj,
Do I understand this right...There are 2 Anthony Brunos.
1) born 1850
2) born 1879.

#2 is the son of #1.

#2 had 2 sons Carl and Frank. Frank was born in Missouri @1912. However both of them lived in Kokomo, IN. The lived on Diamond Street.

My question is...1/7/1927 there is a Kokomo Tribune article about a body found in a field. It says Tony Bruno identified the body as his son Joseph, 19 y/o. ( I found the article on newspaperarchives.com)
So I assume this is the son of Tony #2?

Not sure you could make that assumption. :?

The Joseph Bruno in the article, MAY be the same Joseph Bruno (born 1909) listed in the 1920 Census in Hendricks County, Guilford, Indiana, as an inmate at "The Indiana Boys School" ... His place of birth is listed as Italy. From what I have seen from suanj's posts above, a son of YOUR Tony Bruno most likely was born in USA? :)

According to the death index for Joseph Bruno (in the article) he died in Washington Township, which is in Hendricks County - the same as the Boys School above.
Kokomo is in Howard County.

"Indiana, Death Index, 1882-1920," Joseph Bruno, 1927
Name: Joseph Bruno
Event: Death
Event Date: 01 Jan 1927
Event Place: Washington Township, Indiana
Age: 18
Estimated Birth Year: 1909
Gender: Male
Race: W
Source Location: County Health Office, Knox

Anthony Bruno jr ( married at Francesca D'Anna: children Giuseppe/Joseph, Frank, and Carl)seemed to me that he was the son of a Anthony Bruno sr, [the confusion is because both had the wife with same first name: Frances ... sorry :D ]

but in Italy we know by marriage record that the parents of Anthony Bruno was Giuseppe Bruno and Francesca Dinolfo

Giuseppe Bruno married at Francesca Dinolfo in 1868 and he was a widow of Giuseppa Caruana first wife; the Giuseppe Bruno age was 38 old and Francesca Dinolfo age.. illegible.. so he was born abt in 1838....
http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/View. ... o.1868.120

I believe that Francesca Dinolfo was widow when came in USA....

I am the grandson of Anthony Bruno who lived in Kokomo, Indiana. My brother discovered this website and informed me of it. I have not read everything in detail in the previous posts but what I have read has been very interesting. I am aware of a Joseph Bruno who was the son of Anthony Bruno and I possess a newspaper article that discusses the death of Joseph in 1927. I found this article in the Kokomo library a few years ago.

My mother was Frances Bruno and my father was John Tate both born in Kokomo. I would be happy to share information if I can.
