Searching for D'Amore from Frosolone, Abruzzi

Post by susiea »

Hi - I need help! I am searching for my grandfather Giuseppe D'Amore from Frosolone, Abruzzi, Italia. Born Feb. 13 about 1877. His parents were Desidora (Isidoro) and Esabetta (Isabella) maiden name unknown. I was told he emigrated to USA as a "young boy" so I'm guessing sometime in the 1890's. He was in the USA by 1901.

I have been unable to locate anything about him in Italy. The family story is that he "jumped ship" and I'm not sure exactly what that means. I have not been able to locate him in Immigration and Passenger's List either.

I would appreciate any help, suggestions, or advice anyone can offer. Thank you.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have seen that entry but didn't feel that it was my grandfather because of the father's name Sabatino is not his father's name. Could it be another relative? Possibly, but also I remember my own father saying that Giuseppe came over by himself.

Do you know if there are any records available from Frosolone? Or what Roman Catholic parish(es) were in the area there?

I have been very frustrated with this search and really want to know more about him.

Thank you again for your quick reply.

currently Frosolone is in Isernia province, Molise region. The province of Isernia was made in 1970, so recently. In the past the Molise region had just 1 province: Campobasso. So in the past also Frosolone was in Campobasso province.
