I believe the name was originally ROVEGNO, which is a name found in S. Margherita Ligure :-)

Online records are limited, but I am currently searching the marriage records for SML from 1870-1873 for the parents' marriage.
Since marriages often took place in the town of the bride, it is possible I will not find it in SML :(

I checked the marriages for S. Margherita Ligure for 1870 through 1873, and did not find them. I also did not find ANY Rovegno or Zappettini names among the spouses.

Checking the occurence of the name today in towns, ---
Rovegno is currently found in SML and throughout Genoa Province.
Zappettini is not found in SML, but is found in Genoa Province with the largest population (only about 24 people) in Chiavari.

Records online are incomplete and I could not locate a publication of the banns in SML. When checking Chiavari, I noticed that marriage records do not start until 1876, banns until 1925, and allegati (attachments to the marriage record) until 1911 in the online records. The banns would have been required in both the town of the bride and the groom, and would provide the birth place of the spouses so we could locate marriage and birth records.

Wonderful that you have it! :-) If you need it translated... just post it here!

I would suggest you write directly to Santa Margherita Ligure to request information about the family. Ask for a Certificato di Stato di Famiglia di Luigi Rovegno - and provide dates of birth, and other details to help the official to identify the correct family :-)

Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Piazza Mazzini, 46
16038 Santa Margherita Ligure (GE)
Italy

Hi,

the site Ancestry.it keeps the civil registrations for Santa Margherita Ligure, this is the birth act you're referring to:
