Livio, Colagero's wife's name was Rosario DiMaggio, does it sound right that his mothers maiden name was DiMaggio also?

I don't see a problem. Maybe Rosaria and Giacoma where distant cousins or maybe they where not related at all.
"Di Maggio" (the correct spelling is 2 words) is a popular surname in Torretta, see http://www.paginebianche.it/ricerca?qs= ... PA%29&l=en
