LaCalamita and DeRuvo Families

Post by berge48 »

Hello, I am trying to help an elderly neighbor, Leonard LaCalamita, find information about his parents.

His father, Arcangelo LaCalamita, was born 1885 in the Bari area of Italy and came to NYC probably before 1910. Arcangelo later brought his mother and brothers to NYC.

Arcangelo married Filamina DeRuvo and had 4 sons: Thomas, Charles, Joseph and Leonard who was born in 1920. Filamina came from Italy probably before 1910 with Leonard thinks, her family. Her brothers were Joseph(Guiseppi?), William, Michael, and sister Josephina. Leonard remembers that his mother said she was 15 when she married his father.

I have tried searching the Ellis Island site and haven't had any luck with these names. Can anyone help me help my friend Lenny? Thank You.

Trish,
thanks so much I will visit tomorrow night and let him know the new info! He will be excited!!!

How did you find the marriage info? Is that a site you have to pay for?

I just signed on the ancestry.com for a free 2 weeks where I can see the census but other lists are not accessible!

Thanks again!

Trish,
I am trying to find the LaCalamita family on the 1930 census and can't. When I search for them I get nothing. Was the last name spelled differently?

Hi There,

Give me till tomorrow and I'll post the information and I'll ask Mjfp to upload it on the internet. I still didn't get the hang of how to upload the document.

Or if you send me a private email to brujaojos@yahoo.com, I can email the document to you.
