I try to set up a new service to research the Passengers and Immigration lists of Italians who went to America between 1880 and 1893. I have a database available (not online!) with more than 400.000 individuals. Most records list name, surname, age, gender, occupation, village of origin, destination, name of the ship and date of arrival.

I want to test this service by doing the research now for 10 people who can submit one surname as a reply in this thread. The service will be free for now, I only expect your reply to let me know if you can use the info I give you.

Go ahead!

Hi Edmondo,
I would appreciate it if you could check on the following name:
Giovannina Tammaro (Tammaro is the maiden name) (married to Sasso)
She would have been traveling in 1891, 1892 or 1893
She would have been traveling with her child: Ernesto Sasso
Her age would have been about 31, 32, 33 or 34.
Please let me know if you find her and what information you have.
Thank you very much.

I have 17 records for Tammaro but no Giovaninna or Giovanna and none of them are in the age between 28 and 36.
I have 89 records for Sasso.

Hello Edmundo,

I am seeking information about my Wife\'s maternal Grandfather. George (or Georgio) Pafundi. Information about him is scarce and we believe he came from southern Italy, Probably either Campania or Basilicata.

I could find no record of him in Ellis Island.

He was a,barber and resided in the Williamsburgh section of Brooklyn, NY. :-P

There are 190 persons currently in Italy with the Pafundi surname and 77 are located in Province of Potenza and 47 of that 77 are in the town of Pietragalla. Since this is the only information I can give you, perhaps if you furnished a year or date of birth would help so that you can trace his entry into the USA thru the National Archives by submitting his name and date of birth and aspproximate year of entryon their form 81. Please let me knowPeter

There is a record for a family consisting of Antonio Pafundi aged 41 and his wife,Erestina, Giorgio aged 9, Tonio aged 8, Tonetta aged 6 and daughter Angela age unknown. They arrived on the ship Brittania on 1/21/1888. This may be what you are seeking. Please go to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm and submit form 81 for a copy of the passengers arrival record.

If not, I have no info, if yes I have more info.
