Start your research here in the US before you go. You can get quite a head start. Have you read any books on getting started in Italian genealogy. I recommend Italian-American Family History by Sharon DeBartolo Carmack. After that, you need Italian Genealogical Records by Trafford Cole. Check your library or buy them from Amazon.com.

You might check out the following Abruzzi websites:

Thanks you for the help. I have already found the family name listed in Pescaserroli white pages - also my grandmother's maiden name. Now to go backwards and find my great grandparents and more!! Exciting and Thank You again!

savey,
Good luck with your search. If you would like any more help just ask. There are folks on the board with a knack for finding immigration information. If you haven't already found your family's immigration information maybe we can help you. You will have to tell us more specifics though. Name, approximate year of birth, approximate year of immigration, and destination are always helpful to know.

Hi there,

The correct spelling of the town is Pescaserroli.

The Family History Center has microfilm that you can order for about $3.50 a roll. However, the film is limited and only goes from 1809-1865. Here is the link for the microfilm.

Here is the link to find your nearest Family History Center.

This is a link to find names and addresses of the people that still might live in that town with your surname.

Here is a couple of links about the town itself.

Hope this helps.
