Want to know where my italian side is from. Can anyone help?

Post by Thatgenealogykid »

Surname is bellotti or bilotti or belotti or something like that (not sure)

Anyways, Supposedly they were from Wisconsin or Illinois, but moved to Minnesota for a short time, but moved back because they had family there.

I'm looking in familysearch.com, and see a Toni and Mary bellotti, originally from Montana, but I'm not sure that's them, as I have zero knowledge besides what I just stated. Can someone please help me find my roots and tell me what part of italy they immigrated from?

Can you see if anyone from Wisconsin or Illinois with a surname that is, or sounds like bellotti/bilotti came to minnesota? And, said ancestor walked out of a marriage, did any of the minnesota bellottis walkout of a marriage? If one of them didn't, can you see if one of the ones in wisconsin/Illinois did? (It would be one of their children)

Theres Clara, Assunta, Anrico (on the 1940 census is named "Harry"), natalina, Amabile (named Mable on the 1940 census) and juiseppe (named "Joseph" on the 1940 census).

Again, I'm not sure if I'm related to them, or of I'm related to another bellotti/bilotti family elsewhere, can you start with these, and see if any of the males walked out of a marriage, and if none did, can you see if one of the defendants of the bilotti family in Kenosha did, and if one of them didn't, can you see if one of the bellottis/bilottis in Illinois did? Sorry for this, I just have been researching for a year now, and have no point to start off of, that's why I turned to this site.

Lets start with your parents and grandparents and where they lived to get a starting point

Assuming that Belotti is the correct spelling, you can see from this map that the surname in modern Italy is heavily concentrated in the Lombardia region http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo- ... 15cJlcVRrw

It's a closed adoption. So that's inaccessible. Also, how can I see if either harry or joseph bellotti divorced/walked out of a marriage? I looked online, and it said Harry's last known place of residence was with someone he was married to, but how can I see if he had any marriages prior? Same with joseph.
