Regarding Gregorio census 1920,30,40

Post by elizabethvitale »

Does anyone recognize these people listed?

Anna Vitale, daughter of Tony and Angeline (Sofia) Vitale. According to the 1930 census, she married Angelo Gregoria circa 1906 (in 1930 they had been married 24 years), almost certainly in Italy. (According to that census, Angelo had immigrated to the U.S. in 1903 and Anna in 1907. One could deduce that Angelo found a home here and went back to Italy to marry Anna and bring her to America.)

Anna Vitale was born in Italy on 24 Feb 1878 and died at Vincent Pallotti Hospital, Morgantown, WV on 14 Apr 1954. She is buried in Beverly Hills Memorial Garden near Morgantown.

Angelo Gregoria, son of Pasquale and Rose (Sophia) Gregoria, was born in Saleano, Italy on 05 Dec 1878. He died at Vincent Pallotti Hospital on 25 May 1962 and is buried in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown. (Noting the maiden names of their mothers, it is possible that Angelo and Anna were cousins.)

I was able to locate Angelo and Anna in the 1920, 1930 and 1940 censuses, as follows:

I was able to locate a ship manifest for Anna Vitale in September 1906 - HOWEVER, her name is crossed out, meaning she did not sail on this voyage -OR- she is listed somewhere else on the manifest...

She was going to her "husband Angelo Gregorio, in Wallston, PA"
Her last residence was CAMPORA (which is in Salerno Province)

EDIT TO ADD:

Appears that she sailed in January of 1907.

thank you for your response. Yes this matches my info. I am more concerned about the children listed on the census, who they married, the children they had. I don't think I have time for an Italian adventure online or by mail haaaa :)
