Re: Barbalaci

Are you looking for an Italian surname? Do you need more information about your family heritage?
This is the right place to start your genealogy search.

Yes, this IS my family!!! I was also trying to find information on Guisepe Barbalaci:
arrived: May 19, 1893
city: New York
Ship: SS Alesia

Another link ( I forgot who sent this to me) :
Ship Manifest
SS Alesia
page: 3
number: 968

If you have more suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hi Evana,
I sent you the link for Giuseppe Barbalaci. YOu won't get to his manifest through Ellis Island. It is a mislink.

What do you want to find on Giuseppe Barbalaci?

I would like to find out the town he came from in Italy. Some how the manifest was researched but I would also like a picture of the ship. I would like to know how to get more information from this site.
The Ellis Island site gave a clear printed page of the manifest for Marianna Muia and also listed the town, Spilinga, as her residence.
Also, how can I trace their parents in Italy?

Hi Evana,

Barbatace,Giuseppe is the exact spelling of how the name was indexed on Ellis Island. Arrived in 1893. You can search and find it on Ellis Island. When you click on the manifest it will take you to the wrong passenger list. That is why I provided you with a lind to the correct manifest using a tool provided by Dr. Morse http://stevemorse.org/index.html

I still can not get the text passenger list to open. It seems to try and list the entire ship on one page, rather than just the one page of the manifest.

If the birth record you are looking for is not included in the mircrfilm records for Cicala, you will have to write the town for the information. All requests for informaiton should be in Italian.

Thanks but how do I actually view this film? I do realize that it's stored at the Family search org but would a county Library have a copy of these films?
