Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have a very long stretch that needs to be reserached.

I may have family with the surname of "Reatl" or "Riehl" or "Rettl" from the area around Kollmann / Colma (the area may be considered Barbian, also).

I have no idea what Church is in that area, or even if they are from there (it's a long story), but it would be linking an "Edward Rettl" b 1840-1843 and "William Rettl" b 1837-1841 with a mother Elizabeth.

Yes, it's Germanic, but the area was Austrian territory until after WWII.

Can anything be done with this?

All these records can be found at any Family history center and the quality of these microfilms is pretty good.
If you need suggestions about the different churches in the area you can visit the following web site:
http://www.parrocchie.it/index.html?CCH ... bella=&id=
Good luck with your research

My Family History Center has only 3-4 hours a week that are outside of the time i'm in the office when they're open, and i've posted about it before.

That suggestion is utterly useless to me.

I'm going to have to either have help (like here) or pay people to do this for me, unless I want to spend 30 years doing the research a normal person can do in one.

And that isn't even considering the fact that i've got a social life and can't make it a lot of Saturdays, which are only possible through a backdoor method (the Newberry Library).

Just look up the hours in the Chicagoland area.

Go for it.

I just wanted to let people know that the research in the Trento and Bolzano area can also be done in the US using a FH Center. Then if you decide to pay some body to do your research it is fine.
I think many peolple that are new to this site do not know this possibility.

Hi Joel (JMTC77)

I just looked at your profile. Would you be related to Tafford Cole, auther of that wonderful book Italian Genealogical Records? I seem to remember reading somewhere that he had a son named Joel who is now doing most of the research in Italy. I think I learned this at a POINT meeting. Any connection?

I am looking for information on the Battitori and Marchiori families from the Saone and Pinzolo areas. Is this something you can help me with?

Re: Saone and Pinzolo

If you can get to a Family History Center (www.familysearch.org for the ones closest to you), the church records for Saone have been microfilmed for the years 1608-1923. Film numbers are 1388902 (sections 27-28) and 1388903 (sections 1-17)

For Pinzolo, the films (from year 1640) are 1388956 (sec 17-28) and 1388983 (sec 1-6)
