designations of step parents

Post by dmt1955 » 18 Aug 2014, 02:31

would it customary for a step mother be called mother? here's the example....

on the death act for Marianna Isabella, wife of Giuseppe, the witnesses are noted as Diego and Lorenzo, sons of the deceased.

however, on the death records of Diego & Lorenzo, their parents are noted as Giuseppe & Rosa Russo. the ages & occupations of both Diego & Lorenzo coincide so I do not think these are two different men.

would it be customary for Diego & Lorenzo to be called the sons of Marianna if she was not the birth mother, but the second wife (step mother) of their father?

thanks for your help clarifying this.
