LUIGI GAUDIO

Post by trevisan2 » 25 Aug 2014, 18:24

I have a friend that wants to find out where in Italy her maternal grandfather comes from.

Here is what she knows.

Luigi Gaudio
died 3 Aug 1929 Provo, Utah

The death record states that his father was Paguda

Married to Phoebe Lovina Jaggers
b. 15 Aug 1891 Provo
died 4 Nov 1967 Orem

They were married on June 15, 1910

Any information would be greatly appreciated by Carolyn

Great find, Marty!

There are two Luigi Gaudio in the Cosenza Archives... born in Mendicino
Both have father's given name as Antonio. The record you found above looks like it could be Pasquale.

One is born 5 Dec 1885 to Antonio Gaudio and Rosina Toteda

The other born 4 November 1888 to Antonio Gaudio and Maria Greco

Thanks for all the research help.

I was wondering about Luigi's father on the death certificate listed as " Paguda"
Is that a Pasquale name or just a misspelling?

If Luigi was 12 in 1900, then he had to come over with parents, an uncle or with someone.

Maybe someone could locate the marriage record in Utah, and that would better tell who his parents were.

I checked Family Search and they have the mother of Luigi Gaudio listed as
Rose Callabar
b. 1863, Italy

Thanks

Luigi's info has been tough to figure out. He would be my maternal great-grandfather. With the finds listed above, the dots still do not connect, ie the two records from Italy don't seem to match his other info. I have a copy of his marriage certificate and it doesn't have a whole lot there either. The key would be finding his parents elsewhere in other documentation, ie ship manifest, or in other Italy-based record keeping. Any other info that anyone might be able to find out would be of great help. Thanks.
