Meaning of the Italian surname Delzingaro

Post by zingaro » 17 Apr 2015, 02:25

I am trying to find the origin of the name Delzingaro. I believe it means of the gypsies but where did it originate? My father was half Calebrese and half Abruzzese. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I saw it had a coat of arms associated with the name, any idea of what those symbols mean? No records of this name in either Calabria or Abruzzo since that is where my fathers side said they are from???

Here's some surname maps for Zingaro:

http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo- ... TFd5_mjNNY

http://www.cognomix.it/mappe-dei-cognom ... ni/ZINGARO

And Del Zingaro:

http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo- ... TFeSfmjNNY

There's no results for Delzingaro since in Italy it would have been written as "del Zingaro" - possibly sometimes without the "del".
