San Giuseppe Jato Cemeteries

Post by stokkster1 » 22 May 2016, 19:22

I was wondering if someone could tell me where present day the Cemetery in San Giuseppe is, also in the 1800's where it would have been. I tried google earth and it keeps taking me to a building. Also what is the name of the local newspaper for San Giuseppe Jato? is there an addition online? I am trying to locate Obituaries or death notices for records in the 90's and now? to fill in gaps. I just found some family on Facebook that comes from my Great Grandfathers brothers family, they are still in San Giuseppe but even with google translate I am having trouble communicating with her.

Obituaries in Italy are for the famous, not the everyday person. It is unlikely there is a local paper. The cemetery is probably in the same place today that it was when Napoleon ordered it to be built outside the city limits and the bones etc moved from under the floor of the church.
