Need Help in finding a birth record

Post by Athena »

I've been trying to find the birth record of my great-grandfather Luigi piscitello, in Santo Stefano, Di Camastra.
I have him born in 1880 to the parents of carmelo piscitello and maria ballato. I've searched from 1876 on with no luck at all, while searching I found their daughters but not luigi.

Is this the daughter you found?

This daughter was born in 1882, but registered as a son, Basilio.
With a decision of the court (annotated on the record in 1912) the correction was made to register the child as a daughter, giving her the name Basilia :-)

I have not found Luigi in the indices for 1879-1882 -
Could it be that he is listed under a different given name?

Yes, I have her.
I don't know. I have a copy of his death record and it has him under Luigi born May 15th 1880 in Italy.
But I haven't found any birth record here. Has this normal?

Is this an Italian or US death record?
