Birth Record From Jelsi, Campobasso

Post by demari18 »

Wondering if anyone could help me find a birth record for Maria D'Amico (Damico) who was born in Jelsi on 12 May 1884 and/or information about her parents. Her parents were Biase D'Amico and Filomena Santella. Maria emigrated to the United States in 1906. Thank you so very much. DeMari

I just checked the online birth records for Jelsi from 1883 to 1886. There are some birth records for Maria D'Amicos, but none with with the parents you mention.

The records are at this link-

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ano/Ielsi/

birth was May 12, 1882 not 1884

Biase did not make the declaration of the birth or presentation of the infant at the town hall. The record reads that he was legitimately impeded from doing so. So I don't know if this means that he was physically unable to do so, physically handicapped, or exactly what it means.

Marriage of Biase D’Amico and Maria Giuseppa Di Pietro
Parish of Jelsi
June 12, 1820

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0

Biase D'Amico, the groom, was age 23, a peasant, born and living in Jelsi, and the son of Costanzo (D’Amico) and Catarina Izzo.

Maria Giuseppa di Pietro, age 19, was born and living in Jelsi, and the daughter of Gioacchino (Di Pietro) and Angelantonia Panzera.

It seems that Biase’s father Costanzo was deceased at the time of the marriage, as his death act is listed as one of the records needed for this marriage.
