Looking for where my great grandfather was from.

Hi there,
Have done a little research and have tracked down my great grandfather to Calabria but he lived most his life in Sicily and raised a family there. His name is Antonino Sacchinelli born about 1849. My grandfather is Salvatore born 1899. I know they are on the familysearch website. What I would love to know is where was Antonino born and if he had brother's and sisters and possibly their names. Hope somebody can help me please.

Yes Salvatore is my grandfather, his brother/my great uncles are Francesco and the other brother is Antonino born 7th Jan 1893 and my great grandfather's name is also Antonino but there are no records for where he was born. All I know he was born in Calabria about 1849.

Hey everyone, just bumping this post to see if anybody on here can help me out or point me to a genealogist who can?
Just to recap looking for where my great grandfather Antonino Sacchinelli was born. All I know he was born in Calabria, dont know the town, around 1849 and died in Messina Sicily in about 1910 to 1920. Just want to know what town in Calabria he was born.

In checking Ellis Island immigration manifests, I found 4 towns in Calabria with the surname Sacchinelli:
Pizzoni
Soriano Calabro
Vazzano
Mileto

All these towns are currently in the province of Vibo Valentia but prior to 1992 they were in the province of Catanzaro in Calabria.

In checking Ellis for the Ascoli surname, the only town from the above list with a match to those with Sacchinelli surname was Mileto.

Birth records for Mileto 1840-1860 are available for viewing at a Family History Center or an Affiliated Library.

Marriages for Mileto 1861-1896 are available to view online. If both Antonio and Francesca were born in Mileto,
their marriage act likely is among these records.

Hey Biff, thankyou so much. That's awesome! I'll take a look through the records. Though the family always thought Francesca Ascoli was Sicilian and Antonino met her on a trip to Sicily then married and he moved to Sicily. But they might have moved together from Mileto or one of those other towns. I check that angle out! Such a long time ago, anything is possible.

Ok...so I am unable to access these marriage records in Mileto. Even so there are none with the correct dates which would be from between 1885 and 1890...
Back to the drawing board.
