In the 1940 US Census in Yonkers, Frances is married to Louis Torreggiani (both age 36) and their SON is William, age 16, born in New Jersey.
Is it Louis (Luigi) Torreggiani whose birthplace you are searching for?
Here is the POSSIBLE arrival of Luigi Torreggiani to New York in 1920.

Re: Help locating person - William Torreggiani
Thank you so much for the speedy reply Tessa! Yes, I meant Luigi. Now to find out Luigi's wife Frances' surname. Their grandchild may need to request her death certificate.
Re: Help locating person - William Torreggiani
You might try the Westchester County clerk and request their marriage document. It should have her maiden name.
My thoughts are that they were married around 1923-24. I did not find them in the NYC marriage index, so most likely married in Westchester County.
ALSO... first born, William, was born in New Jersey - possibly married there.
Here is the image of their grave -
Frances is listed as born 3 June 1903; died 4 December 1957.

Buried in St. Marys Cemetery, Yonkers
The cemetery may have her maiden name in her death file.

Re: Help locating person - William Torreggiani
I checked the Westchester County marriage archives but was unable to locate a marriage record. Did a search for last name "Torreggiani" another for first name "Luigi". Then I searched under the "T" listing for all surnames beginning with "Tor".

Re: Help locating person - William Torreggiani
Luigi's wife's maiden name was Lombardi based on son William's August 1974 obituary in the Yonkers Herald Statesman. Luigi's obituary states they were married in June 1924 but does not give a location.
Frances's obit (Mrs. Louis Torreggiani) states she was born in Italy (no location given) and she and Luigi were married in Phillipsburg NJ. Her parents who were living at the time of her death in 1957 were Mr. and Mrs. Agostino Lombardi and brothers Richard, Peter, Ludy (sic) and Evo (sic) of Phillipsburg.
T., found the info on the Old Fulton site but don't know how to post the images.

Domenica Marconi Lombardi and daughter Francesca's 1906 manifest, lines 25 and 26, last residence Corinaldo with destination of Alpha NJ to join husband/father. Note Francesca is listed as a "son" and father is listed with first name "Angelo" but I'm sure this is Francesca and her mother's correct manifest. Possible sister or cousin of Domenica on line 27, Rosa Marconi, who is joining her brother Gaetano in Alpha NJ. This might be the brother-in-law Agostino was joining the year before which would mean that Rosa and Gaetano Marconi were Domenica's siblings.
