Hi, so Luis(Luigi) was born abt 1851 and Joseph(Giuseppe) abt 1844... I think that is a problem, however you can write for to obtain the certificates to :

Archivio di Stato di Firenze
Viale Giovine Italia, 6 ( zona Piazza Beccaria )
50122 - FIRENZE
fax (+39)
email asfi @

because are the registries( birth/marriage/death) for all municipalities of Lucca area "per i Comuni dell'ex Ducato di Lucca, SOLO PER GLI ANNI DAL 1849 AL 1865 " for years from 1849 to 1865, so Joseph is out...

but are this other possibility for Joseph:

"per tutti i Comuni dell'ex Granducato di Toscana, SOLO PER GLI ANNI DAL 1808 AL 1865" this other source always in Firenze Archive

but it is necessary to provide the correct names, birthplace, birthdate and also paternity and maternity... and to say with precision what records you need.. for record after of 1865 you must write in Lucca office...

regards, suanj
