DiPasquale/ DiFranco from Canicatti

Post by wreid77 »

I'm looking for any help extending my wife's family tree.

What I know now:
- Lorenzo DiPasquale (b. August 1877 or 1878) was born in Canicatti and first sailed for NY City in 1906. He was married to Maria DiFranco (b. about 1886). The couple had at least 2 children in Canicatti before moving to NY:
1. Domenica (b. 1903)
2. Diego (b. Sep 1913)

Lorenzo made several trips home to Canicatti, so there may be other children I am not aware of.

Maria and Diego sailed from Palermo to NYC in 1913 shortly after his birth. Domenica was left with her grandfather (Luigi DiFranco) and followed to NYC by way of Pennsylvania in 1921.

Lorenzo's death certificate lists his parents as Giacomo DiPasquale and Maria DiMineo (although I am unsure as to the accuracy of either).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lorenzo was an "operaio"-a laborer; the word normally refers to someone who does manual work, but I believe it also has been used to refer to someone who is an artisan or craftsman.

Also the birth took place on the 16th and not on the 19th in the house at #10 via Pisacane.
