Advice

Post by continuo »

Hi,

I have been trying to acquire a few liste di leva and fogli matricolari by ricerca per corrispondenza. I've waited for three months now. I even sent a follow up email. Request was well defined, nothing disqualifying in that area. No luck, though. I expected wait time on the longer side of things when dealing with one of the Archivi di Stato, especially one in the Mezzogiorno. I just have no frame of reference to know how long is too long. And if it is too long, what would be the logical next step (if there is one).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mezzogiorno=Southern Italy.

I was observing that, in general, institutions in Northern Italy tend to be better funded (and therefore presumably better staffed) than their Southern counterparts.

In any case, I did get a response from the Archivio di Stato di Catanzaro. Though we are still working out the payment issue.
