Good evening

I’m trying to help a cousin that I meet via Ancestry try to find information about her paternal side. Any feedback what commune / region the surname Lepore is from.

She had information that it was Avellino but I looked 10 years back 1880-1890 and didn’t see the surname.

I’m thinking it was a commune in Avellino

It is somewhat common around Avellino. I see it every now and again in Montefredane, Grottolella, and Capriglia Irpina, plus the nearby villages. Also lots in Benevento.

Another quick question... which is closest to Montefalcione? Antonio Lepore married Annita Serino from Montefalcione. I know they didn’t travel too far outside their given village to find amore 🥰

You might find some in Manocalzati which is close to Montefalcione. There were a few cases of people from Montefalcione getting married in Montefredane off the top of my head. These villages are all pretty close, it wasn't out of the question to travel. If you know Serino was from Montefalcione, couples typically married in the hometown of the bride. You might be able to find their marriage record, which would have the groom's place of birth.

There are also a decent amount of Lepore in Lapio, not far from Montefalcione.

There are also many Lepore in Latina and Frosinone provinces.... comuni like Pico, Latin, Pontecorvo, Roccasecca etc.

Many families emigrated to Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Naturalizing 16 October 1900 in Clinton MA (2nd district court E. Worcester Co)

some records show last name as Lepori....so try the spelling variations when searching.
