Saldibar

Post by Stillwitty »

I am seeking information on my Great Grandfather, Annibale Saldibar who was left on a church doorstep in San Vito Tagliamento in Northern Italy. He married Catarina Martin Nardo there, immigrated to the US, settled in New Haven, CT and raised 14 children. I found documentation the "De Lleva" military draft form from the State Archive in Udine that states he was actually born in Mestre. I cannot find a physical address for Civil Birth Records in Mestre. Does anyone have that information? I also wrote to San Vito and they responded very quickly, confirming he was not born there. His birthdate was March 14, 1882. Any and all information is much appreciated!

The municipality of Mestre was abolished in 1926 and became part of that of Venice. The birth certificate to be requested is the #76 of the year 1882 of the Municipality of Mestre.
