US search

Post by ray1955 »

Ok so I am not sure where this should go. Vincenzo Spoto immigrated to the US from Sicily
on ship manifest 1899 and later his wife came over 1902 NY to Chicago. On the first census
I found he changed his name to Charles and his wife was Giovanna Gugino. They had a daughter
her name was listed as Josie and later she would use the name Josephine.
1910 Chicago Census on April 20th.

Problem: I can not find any of their deaths ....... I have tried other censuses where I might find Giovanna without Charles but no luck......I would appreciate it if any one has any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

They can be found in the 1930 census here:

There is also a death for a Vincent Spoto born 25 Dec 1860, died 10 Aug 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. Son of Anthony Spoto and Josephine Malato. Spouse named Josephine. His occupation is given as a barber, same as 1910 census.

Both of the above were buried in Mt Caramel. All information came from familysearch.org. Will keep looking if Vincent isn't yours.

I notice that the date of baptism is the same as the birth date given in the record of death of Vincent Spoto, above (minus one year, which is reasonable).
