Looking for ancester, surname Curtis

Hello,

I'm trying to find my Italian grandfather Bartholomew Curtis, who I just found out was born in Italy in 1822 and moved to Suffolk, England. All I now is that he was married to Maria.

Any help would be a great help.

You MUST know the town of birth to find records in Italy and in your case you may even need to know which church. Italian records in the south begin around 1809, in the centre around 1870 and someone else needs to tell you for the north. For sure it was in 1866 in most places but many towns passed from country to country.

There are 33 family tree with Bartholomew Curtis on Ancestry.com. All have similar information. However, none provide a city of birth in Italy.

Bartholomew Curtis was born in 1821 in Italy. He married Anna Maria Ashby in 1851. They had four children in 14 years. He died in 1881 in Mutford, Suffolk, England, at the age of 60.

Just trying to get my head around the information you gave me, trying to find about Giuseppe De Curtis.
How did you find the old record? trying to work out the professions, big thanks.
