Family Info
Well, My last name is paronett, he changed from Paronetto when my great great grandfather came to america, he couldn't get a job, so he dropped the O. My grandfather has tried searching for stuff online, and says he came up with nothing.
Great great grandfathers name was josepe(sp?) paronetto, his wife's maiden name was remilda Coda.
IF anyone can point me in the right direction Id greatly appreciate it.

Re: Family Info
Wow - one of the first time I found someone in the WWII draft card records! Looks like Joseph was born in Argentina. See his record below:

Re: Family Info
Wow, thanks a bunch.
He actually was born in italy, then moved to brazil, then to argentina, then to america. it might just say argentina because thats the last place he was.

Re: Family Info
how do you go about finding like a family crest?
My grandfather told me paronetto is a very rare name, so anyone with that name will be related.

Re: Family Info
If I had to hazard a guess for birth location, I'd start with Ponzano Veneto, in the Province of Treviso.VaDeb wrote:Here is his WWI draft card, unfortuanetly it does not list his place of birth in Italy.
I found only four Paronetto immigrants in the Ellis Island database (not this Giuseppe, though) and one in Ancestry.com, and all claim either the province of Treviso or the towns Ponzano/Paderno as their home. With only 2,400 inhabitants in 1880, searching out the birth record should be quick work.
I don't think that the LDS has microfilms of this towns civil records, but the local parish might have baptismal records.

Re: Family Info
Thanks, my grandfather says he thought it was somewhere near venice?
Also, how do I go about finding out what Paronetto means?

Re: Family Info
Yes, Ponzano Veneto is just 29 miles from Venice.Paronetto wrote:Thanks, my grandfather says he thought it was somewhere near venice?
Surname meanings are often a wild guess. "etta" is a common diminutive (meaning "little"), but the root could mean many things.Paronetto wrote:Also, how do I go about finding out what Paronetto means?
It might derive from Pero or Pietro, meaning "Little Peter".
It might derive from the Catalan "pere", meaning "Little Pear Tree".
Maybe a very distant ancestor came from Perona, Italy.
Re: Family Info
Could also mean "Paron" padrone (master) in venetian language.
There are a few Paronetto in Vittorio Veneto, too. They were my childness friends, but it is a few year that I don't see them anymore.
