Searching for birth record and family for Davido Salvatore Farina

Post by dianafarina »

Hello. I am searching for birth record for my husband's paternal grandfather.
We are told that his name was Davido Salvatore Farina.
He was from Cerna Italy that was in or near the province of gheri. these are not likely the right spellings, but this is what the places sound like.
Davido was the only person from his family to come to the US and he came to stay with a friend when he first came to the US.
He was born in 1901 and he died in New Jersey in October 1951.
He was one of 16 children and he was a twin. His twin sister became a cloister nun.
There were 3 sets of twins in his family.
He had a brother Vincenzo who named his son Vincenzo.
Davido also named his son Vincent.
Davido had one brother that was very tall.
His mother lived a long life, maybe till she was 100.
They lived on a mountain slope in Italy and had an Olive Orchard. She walked down the slope to the market and one day she fell returning home from the market and she died.

I would very much appreciate any information or leads on how I could find more information about his family in Italy. Thank you for your help.

Farina is a very popular surname in Italy.
I've found only one Cerna in Italy, a hamlet of Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo, province of Verona.
"Gheri" does not exist.
Did you read these spellings on some document, or are they how they were spelled in your family?
Do you have his ship manifest?
