Incredible! I cannot thank you enough saunj! I am a little confused though, are his parents Matteo Randazzo and Francesca LA FATA, or Joseph Randazzo and Rosa Giliberti?
I know he had the following children in this order: Pauline (1898), Josephine (1908), Joseph (1911), Jessel Paul Jr (1914), and Rose Marie (1917).
No, I said that in 1864 no one Giosuè, just 1 Giuseppe/Joseph and he IS NOT your ancestor
On 1864 in Terrasini just 1 Joseph Randazzo born on 24 dec 1864 son of Joseph and Rosa Giliberti https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2046915 3th on left page
This Joseph is no Josue! Ok!
Giosuè/Josue was born on 1866 abt and by his marriage record, the father was Matteo(Matthew) and the mother was Francesca Paola LA FATA.
OK?

That's strange that is says 1866 because I have a picture of his grave and it says September 21, 1864. And wouldn't the trend of naming the first born after the grandfather mean his first son should've been called Matteo instead of Joseph?
I appreciate this information you've given me!! I've just been searching for so long that I want to make sure everything fits, you know?
That was born around 1866 is sure, because the age is on the ship's manifest.
If you have doubts I can say that on 1864 baptisms no one Giosuè...
Abt naming tradition, yes if the relations was good between father and son.. And in any case the wife must agree. Instead she called the first son like her father.. Pauline like Giosuè mother first name, Francesca Paola.. Pauline more modern... And we cannot know why he no called the first son like his father. Maybe was born from his some brother a child named Matteo, and he thinked that was no necessary to repeat the naming... Who know?
It could be helpful to find the civil marriage record and civil marriage banns to know more.

Thank you so much! I also just found out that they had some children who died in infancy, which would explain the unusual naming. Again, I can't thank you enough and I hope you have a great day!
The typical Italian lineage dates from circa 1600, and for most of us that's reasonably profound. But who wants to be "typical" when you might be able to trace a lineage into the 1500s or even into the Middle Ages? Because success in this field requires practice and perseverance, as well as skills m...
