Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
My grandmother, Mariantonia Fariello, daughter of Rocco Fariello(1863 – 1944) and Filomena Scarola (1861 – abt 1940) was born February 3, 1903. Her parents were born, married, and died in Grumo Appula, and my grandmother emigrated from Grumo Appula, but there are no birth records for her in that town (and I had the town look and they could not find any birth records for her). Her parents apparently moved around a lot, because they had children who were born in Grumo Appula, Carpinone, and Pisciotto. I have been unable to find my grandmother's birth record there either. Her Social Security record states that she was born in Carpinone. Her naturalization record, (writing is difficult to read) says she was born in Cambebessecn, Italy but I can't find that town. Would love to find her birth record. Would also like to find her mother's death record.

Hello!
Can you post her naturalization record?

Re: Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
As requested, I have attached her naturalization record. At the time, she is married, so it uses her married name, Lorusso, instead of her maiden name, Fariello. She wasn't married when she emigrated here.

Re: Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
Hi - On the April 1921 ship manifest, Maria Antonia is listed next to 21-year-old Pasqua Fariello. Here's Paqua's birth record:
http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0
This record shows Pasqua Camilla Fariello was born on April 6, 1899 in Carpinone. Her parents were Rocco Fariello and Filomena Scaroli. I know this isn't your grandmother's birth record, but it's a starting point. Unfortunately, the 1903 birth records aren't on this site.
Good luck with your search,
Joe

Yes, I have that record too. I remember her. For years, she lived one block away from my grandmother. One of her sons was my godfather.

Re: Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
I'm guessing Mariantonia's hometown "Cambebessecn" that's listed on her naturalization certificate is a misspelling of Campobasso. You probably know it's only 20 miles from Carpinone.
Re: Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
I just checked Campobasso births. She is not listed in the 1903 birth records.
Re: Find My Grandmother's Birth Record
Carpinone was in the province of Campobasso, at that time (now, it's in Isernia).
Maybe they meant the province.

Carpinone birth records end at 1899. She was born in 1903.
