I am researching my father's family history and it is proving to be quite difficult. My Great Grandmother Paolina (Nascente/Nisasnte) died in 1925 in Canton, Ohio. My Great-Grandfather, Antonio Bruno (aka Thomas/Luigi) died in 1929 in an explosion at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Both my grandfather, Carl, and his sister, Thelma, were orphans and moved from boarding house to boarding house. My grandfather passed in 1981 and his sister in 1984.
I do know Antonio's parents were named Ignazio and Filomena(DiMinno) We have multiple letter from my great grandfather's brother, Pasquale (resided in Racine, Wisconsin) asking about the children (Carl and Thelma)
If anyone could potentially provide any information, it would be greatly appreciated! I have been working on this for my father for many years as he never really knew anything about his father's family.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Steven Bruno

Re: Bruno Family History
So, I think they came from Greci (once Greci di Puglia), now province of Avellino, a village of arbëreshë (Albanian) culture.

Re: Bruno Family History
Thank you so much for this! I am wondering if there are any records of Iganzio's parents as well? I believe their names were Celestino Bruno and Pasqua Sabatina Limdaldino(Bruni)?PippoM wrote: ↑10 May 2021, 11:44 Birth record of Antonio Bruno in Greci on Feb 21st, 1889 at 6:15pm, in 8, Rione Castello:

I would also be curious to see if there were any records of Paolina Nascente (Meola/Bruno). Her parents are Michelantonio Nascente and Carmina Strada. I believe when before she immigrated to the United States, Paolina was married to a man with the last name Meola then married my great-grandfather Antonio Bruno.

A daughter, Concetta, born 1884 to Ignazio and Filomena

The first Concetta born to the couple in 1879. Likely she died before 1884.

The birth of a son, Celestino, in May 1881 (#61)
It would appear that Ignazio and Filomena were married between December 1879 (birth of first Concetta) and May 1881 (birth of Celestino.) Unfortunately, those years for marriages do not seem to be online.

Marriage of Celestino in 1911. Ignazio is deceased at this time. If you can locate the marriage allegati (attachments) it should contain the death act for Ignazio which would include his parents' names.
